Meet Sarge.  He is a Basset Hound/German Shepherd mix puppy about 9 months old.  He is about 45 lbs now and we think he may grow a little more.  He is very friendly and sweet and is crate and leash trained.  He gets along well with other dogs.  He will make someone a great new additon to their family.  Sarge gets his temperament from the Basset Hound in him.  They are among the most good-natured and easygoing of breeds. They fit into family life well.  They are mild but not timid; very affectionate with their masters and friendly with children.  They are amiable with dogs, other pets and children, although children must be cautioned not to put strain on its back with their games. They are calm inside, but do need regular exercise to keep fit. They prefer to investigate slowly, and love to sniff and trail. They are a talented and determined tracker, not easily dissuaded from its course. Because of this, Sarge may get on a trail and follow it until he becomes lost so it is important to only allow Hounds off lead in safe areas.  They have a loud bay that they use when excited on the trail.  Because Sarge gets some of his looks from the German Shepherd Dog he does not drool as Bassets tend to do.  On his upkeep he will need mild daily exercise, which can be satisfied by walking on leash or playing the yard.  he will do best as a house dog with access to a yard.  His coat needs only minimal grooming.   If you are interested in Sarge please fill out an adoption application so we can set up time for you to meet him in person.  Thank you for considering a rescue pet.  Please spay or neuter your pets.
