Doggies & Divas Dinner & Fashion Show -- Saturday September 22nd, 2018
SPCA PETS SNAP of Montgomery County invites you to be a part of its 9th annual show stopping event, Doggies & Divas Dinner & Fashion Show. This is a unique dining event showcasing high fashion and current styles while incorporating our canine companions that help us look better & feel better. People and pets will be dressed to the 9s and groomed to look their best, while strutting their stuff on the runway at the Cedar Lodge to raise money and awareness about the SPCA PETS SNAP of M.C.’s life-saving programs, as well as the important role that pets play in our lives. Pets don’t just bring joy to our lives – research shows they also play a critical role in the healing process and improve our health. Besides loving you unconditionally, studies show that those wagging, purring or hopping bundles of love can reduce your stress levels, tame your blood pressure, curb your depression, reduce feelings of loneliness, keep you physically fit and even help you live longer. All canine models will be SPCA dogs that have already found their forever homes or that still need to be adopted. You just might find your new best friend.
Join us on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 at The Cedar Lodge Event Hall for Doggies & Divas Dinner & Fashion Show Event. Diva Fashions will be provided by Hello Beautiful Boutique. In addition to the dinner and fashion show there will also be a silent auction, live auction, gift certificate restaurant tree and a cash bar will also be available for your enjoyment. Activities begin at 6pm and tickets are only $50.00. Reservations are required.
Tickets will be going on sale soon and may be purchased directly from our website.

Big Give Houston is Today -- Tuesday May 3rd, 2016
Big Give Houston is today and we hope you will join us in Growing A Brighter future for homeless rescue pets like Deanie who came in with severe dental disease and his jaw broken in two places. He had to be taken to Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Hospital for treatment. He is still undergoing treatment in his foster home but we are hopeful that he will make a full recovery in another two months when he goes back for his recheck exam. By selecting SPCA PETS SNAP of Montgomery County as your charity of choice on May 3rd you will make it possible for us to help more homeless rescue pets like Deanie. If you are unable to donate please consider volunteering with our organization. Our two greatest needs right now are more foster homes and volunteers to help take care of our kitties in the Adoptable Cat Habitat inside Conroe Petco.
If you have room in your heart and your home to foster a pet in need go to the link below and fill out an online Foster Application.
If you are unable to foster please consider volunteering at our Adoptable Cat Habitat or in one of our other volunteer programs. You can click on the link below to fill out our online Volunteer Form

Happy National Pet Parents Day -- Sunday April 24th, 2016
Happy National Pet Parents Day
Happy National Pet Parents Day. National Pet Parents Day is observed annually on the last Sunday in April. There is a very special connection, a unique bond, between a pet and its owner. This unique relationship, which can often last for many years, is often a vital part of the ‘pet parents’ life. Their loved pets are considered to be a member of the family.
National Pet Parents Day was created to honor all dedicated pet parents across the nation with a special day of their own.
History: Founded by Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) in 2007, National Pet Parents Day, an unofficial national holiday, was created from inspiration in seeing the majority of their policyholders consider their pets as part of their family.
Lets all share pictures of our beloved pets today and be sure to use #NationalPetParentsDay when you post on social media.
Go to our web page for more information: http://www.spcaofmc.com/info/display?PageID=16988
Please consider opening your heart and home to a foster pet today!

National Check The Chip Day -- Saturday August 15th, 2015
Microchips greatly increase the chances that you’ll get your pet back if he/she is lost or stolen…but a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate.
To remind pet owners to have their pets microchipped and to keep the registration information up-to-date, American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) are teaming up to encourage pet owners to update their contact information on National Check the Chip Day!"
SPCA PETS SNAP of Montgomery County is also supporting National Check the Chip Day! Bring your pet to our Mobile Adoption Event at Conroe Petco located at 1410 N Loop 336 W on August 15th between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and we’ll scan your pet for their microchip number and give you a form with the information you need to use at home and make sure all the registration information is current/up to date! If it’s not we’ll send you with information on the form that will help you update the information. It does not cost anything to come on in and get your pet scanned so please come in and let’s check that chip!

Doggone Safe and SPCA PETS SNAP of M.C. offer the following tips for parents and dog owners to help keep kids safe:
The 3 Most Important Things to Teach Your Kids
- Dogs Don’t Like Hugs and Kisses – Teach your kids not to hug or kiss a dog on the face. Hugging the family dog or face-to-face contact are common causes of bites to the face. Instead, teach kids to scratch the dog on the chest or the side of the neck.
- Be a Tree if a Strange Dog Approaches – Teach kids to stand still, like a tree. Trees are boring and the dog will eventually go away. This works for strange dogs and anytime the family dog gets too frisky or becomes aggressive.
- Never Tease a Dog – and never disturb a dog that’s sleeping, eating or protecting something.
The 2 Most Important Things Parents Can Do
- Supervise – Don’t assume your dog is good with kids. If a toddler must interact with your dog, you should have your hands on the dog too. Even if your dog is great with kids and has never bitten – why take a chance?
- Train the dog – Take your dog to obedience classes where positive-reinforcement is used. Never pin, shake, choke, hold the dog down or roll the dog over to teach it a lesson. Dogs treated this way are likely to turn their aggression on weaker family members. Involve older children in training the family dog while supervising. Don’t allow children to punish the dog. Condition the dog to enjoy the presence and actions of children using positive experiences.
The 3 Most Important Things Dog Owners can do
- Spay or Neuter Your Dog – Neutered pets are calmer, healthier and less likely to be aggressive. Neutering prevents unwanted dogs that may end up in shelters or in less than ideal conditions where they may grow up to be poorly socialized or aggressive.
- Condition Your Dog for the World – Give your puppy lots of new positive experiences. Train using positive methods i.e. clicker training.
- Supervise Your Dog – Supervise your dog at all times around children. Do not allow children to hug and kiss the dog. If visiting children are bothering your dog, put the dog away or send the children home.
For more information go to www.doggonesafe.com or better yet come out Sunday and attend our Dog Bite Prevention Training from 3:00 - 3:45 p.m.
